After reading the beautiful poems in Paul de Pierres publication "Jottings and Fragments" Carmel was particularly moved by the words of Anzac Cove and Farmer's Farewell. She enjoyed the process of arranging them to music and finally recording them. Paul had visited Gallipolli in 1997 and wrote the poem Anzac Cove after the Anazac Day Service.

In 2014 Carmel was asked by long time CWA member Lesley McNee to write a song for the 90th Anniversary of the CWA in Nungarin. The song is called “We’ll be There.” This year celebrates 100 years of CWA in Western Australia. From the first days of settlement women have taken an active role in community development. Individually, they have shown great energy and determination. Many had to cope with arriving on newland blocks to discover homes hastily constructed from canvas and bush timber, or even worse, no homes at all.
